Hypnotherapy for Depression

What is Depression?

Depression is a feeling of sadness, emptiness or numbness that continues for weeks or months. It can be caused by situational or biological factors or a combination of the two. It is increasingly common with  nearly 1 in 5 adults experiencing some form of depression (this has increased from 1 in 10 at the start of the Covid pandemic).

 

Depression is not a sign of weakness, but there is still a stigma surrounding it, and so it can often go untreated while the person suffers alone, sometimes appearing 'fine' to the outside world and covering up their feelings. Often over time, depression will cause a person to withdraw from social situations and activities and they may find themselves isolated and in an even more challenging situation.

 

It can take a lot of courage to seek help, but there is definitely a way back to a happier life and Hypnotherapy is a very effective treatment for Depression for long term positive change.

Symptoms of Depression

If you have depression you may be experiencing some or many of the symptoms below. But there are also many other ways that depression affects people, so please get in touch if you would like to discuss how you are feeling.

  • Feeling down, sad, empty or numb for 3 weeks or more

  • Finding it difficult to feel joy or happiness

  • Feelings of emptiness

  • Hopeless feelings

  • Insomnia or sleeping too much

  • Feelings of regret

  • Frequent feelings of guilt, like it's all your fault

  • Low self worth

  • Lethargy

  • Finding it hard to get up in the morning

  • Thoughts of self harm or suicide

How does Hypnotherapy help Depression?

I can help you to overcome depression and find contentment, joy and calm in your life. We can work together to help you access your own positive personal resources and learn how to emotionally self-regulate and to build a more positive outlook about the future. Moving away from depression is often a case of taking small steps at first, which build on one another to lead you to a more positive place. I will be there to guide and support you on this journey.

It is my intention that you will leave a session feeling strengthened and uplifted and that you will be empowered with a deeper understanding of yourself as we work together. When our sessions come to an end, you will also have practical tools to help you to maintain a sense of balance in your life into the future.
