What is IBS?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a condition where people experience stomach sensitivity, discomfort and pain, which is often accompanied by diarrhoea, constipation and bloating.

 

The cause of IBS is unfortunately still not clear, however it is thought that it may be due to gut over-activity and that intense emotional feelings such as stress and anxiety can be a trigger. Many people also find that a number of certain foods will trigger IBS.

If you are living with IBS, you are probably battling with pain and unpleasant symptoms on a daily basis. It may be that your confidence is being affected and you get less enjoyment out things that you used to enjoy doing. You may also notice that you have increased feelings of anxiety and low mood and are even avoiding social situations.

Common IBS Symptoms

  • Stomach discomfort, pain or cramps

  • Bloating Easily

  • Diarrhoea and/or constipation

  • Sensitivity to certain foods can cause a flare up

  • Flare ups during stressful times

Hypnotherapy for IBS

Hypnotherapy is a very effective treatment for IBS, and is recommended by the NHS. With Hypnotherapeutic relaxation techniques I can help you to reduce and manage emotional triggers that may be contributing to symptoms. We will work together to look at any lifestyle and emotional triggers and establish a stronger brain - gut connection.

I will also give you the tools to help you to maintain a sense of balance physically an emotionally between once our therapy sessions and into the future. Hypnotherapy is often a wonderfully relaxing and positive experience and my intention is that you would leave a session feeling calm and positive.
